Keychron Announces Q5 HE 8K Magnetic Switch Keyboard with 8K Polling Rate
Keychron has announced the Q5 HE 8K Wired Keyboard, a new model in its Q-series lineup designed for users who want faster input response and a solid metal construction. The keyboard features magnetic switch technology, an 8,000Hz polling rate, and a 95% layout, while keeping the premium aluminum build commonly found in the company’s Q-series products. The Q5 HE 8K is priced at $239.99.
The keyboard uses a 6063 aluminum alloy chassis for both the top and bottom covers. This material is widely used in premium mechanical keyboards due to its strength and durability. The metal body also adds weight to the keyboard, helping it remain stable on the desk during heavy typing or gaming sessions.

Keychron has opted for a 95% layout, which retains most keys found on a full-size keyboard, including the number pad, but reduces the overall width. This layout is aimed at users who need full functionality while saving some desk space.
Magnetic Switch Technology with 8KHz Polling
The Q5 HE 8K is equipped with Keychron Ultra-fast Lime switches, based on TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) magnetic sensing technology. Unlike traditional mechanical switches that rely on physical contacts, magnetic switches detect key movement using magnetic sensors. This allows for more consistent actuation detection and reduces physical wear over time.

The keyboard supports a polling rate of up to 8,000Hz, meaning the keyboard communicates with the PC up to 8,000 times per second. A higher polling rate can reduce input delay, which may benefit competitive gaming and fast-paced applications where quick key response is important.
PBT Keycaps and Hot-Swappable PCB
Keychron includes OSA-profile PBT keycaps made using double-shot injection molding. PBT material is commonly preferred in mechanical keyboards because it resists wear and retains its texture even after extended use. Double-shot manufacturing also ensures the legends remain visible and do not fade easily.

The keyboard’s PCB supports hot-swapping, allowing compatible switches to be replaced without soldering. This makes it easier for users to customize their typing feel or replace switches if needed.
Double Gasket Mount and Acoustic Layers
The Q5 HE 8K uses a Double Gasket mounting structure, which helps reduce vibration inside the keyboard. This mounting style is designed to improve typing comfort and manage sound during use.

Keychron also added five layers of acoustic-damping materials inside the keyboard to further control internal noise. The aluminum positioning plate contributes to the overall structure, while south-facing RGB LEDs provide backlighting that works well with a wide range of keycap profiles.
With its aluminum chassis, magnetic switches, and 8KHz polling support, the Keychron Q5 HE 8K targets enthusiasts looking for a customizable keyboard with fast response and a premium design. The keyboard is now available through Keychron at $239.99.
