MCHOSE x Unbox Therapy Launch UT98 Tri-Mode Silent Mechanical Keyboard
MCHOSE has officially unveiled the UT98 mechanical keyboard, a new collaboration with popular YouTube unboxing channel Unbox Therapy. Announced on June 27, the UT98 brings a combination of quiet operation, practical features, and a distinctive design.
The UT98 is designed with a 98% layout that provides a compact footprint while retaining a full set of keys, including a dedicated numeric keypad. One of its unique functional features is the inclusion of dedicated shortcut keys, including a button that launches the Windows calculator application and a vertical scroll wheel for multimedia control. The keyboard supports hot-swappable switches and uses a Gasket-mounted structure along with a multi-layer sound-dampening system to enhance typing comfort and reduce noise.
Users can select between two types of linear switches for the UT98. The first option is the silent Outemu Peach V3, which is aimed at delivering a quieter typing experience. The second is a custom-designed Kaihua Streamer Ice Cream switch, which is tuned for early actuation and offers a smoother linear feel. Both switch types target users who prefer low-noise performance without sacrificing responsiveness.
Aesthetically, the UT98 is available in two themes that reflect the collaboration with Unbox Therapy. The “Classic Therapy” colorway adopts a clean panda-style black and white palette, while “Retro Therapy” introduces orange accents inspired by Unbox Therapy’s branding. Several PBT keycaps include custom-engraved patterns unique to this partnership, giving the keyboard a distinctive visual appeal.
Powering the UT98 is a 10,000mAh battery, which MCHOSE claims can deliver up to 909 hours of use with the backlight off and up to 77 hours with backlighting enabled at default brightness. The keyboard supports three connection modes: wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless, offering compatibility with both Windows and macOS systems. Replacement keycaps for macOS layouts are also included in the package.
