AJAZZ AK980 MAX Magnetic Switch Keyboard Set to Launch on June 15 with Unique 98-Column Layout
AJAZZ has announced the release of its new AK980 MAX mechanical keyboard, which will be available starting June 15. The keyboard features a rare 98-column layout and is equipped with magnetic switches, aiming to deliver a balance between everyday productivity and gaming performance.
The AK980 MAX uses a “2U0” 98-column design, offering a wider and more functional layout than the standard 98-key format. This structure is designed to maintain a compact footprint while providing the practical benefits of a full-size keyboard. It is intended for users who need smooth typing and fast gaming response without switching devices or compromising on layout.
In terms of appearance, the keyboard comes in several versions. The base model is available in a clean white finish, while additional themed options include Jackdaw Crossing, Blackberry Pink, and Spider Web Black. All versions come with durable PBT keycaps and are paired with ARGB lighting located beneath the switches. The lighting system includes various preset effects, allowing users to adjust the look and brightness as needed.
The AK980 MAX supports four types of magnetic switches: magnetic rice, magnetic powder, magnetic frost, and TTC Bingwang. All keys are hot-swappable, meaning users can change switches without soldering. The keyboard also supports other magnetic switches, such as TTC Wan Magneto, Gateron Magnetic White, and Magnetic Jade, giving users more flexibility for customization.
Performance specifications are aimed at responsive use. The keyboard has a scan precision of 0.01mm, supports an 8,000Hz return rate, and offers a single-key scan rate of up to 128Khz. The response delay is rated as low as 0.125 milliseconds. These features are designed to ensure consistent speed and accuracy during both typing and gaming.
Inside the case, the keyboard uses a GASKET mounting system for a softer typing feel. The internal structure includes a high-strength aluminum alloy plate, layered with multiple sound-dampening materials. These include PO cotton, IXPE switch pad, PET voice pad, custom silicone, and EPDM foam. This design helps reduce vibration and noise while preserving a solid keypress feel.
For user customization, the AK980 MAX supports both traditional PC drivers and a browser-based configuration tool. This allows users to adjust key functions, set up macros, and configure settings like DKS (Dynamic Keystroke), TGL (Toggle), MT (Mod Tap), and SOCD-related functions. The interface is made to be clear and accessible, requiring no additional software installation.
The AJAZZ AK980 MAX is scheduled for release on June 15. With its 98-column layout, wide switch compatibility, and focus on both performance and typing comfort, it is built for users who want a versatile keyboard suited for a range of daily tasks.
