Logitech Launches Signature Slim Solar+ K980 Wireless Keyboards Powered by Light
Logitech has released the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 and Signature Slim Solar+ K980 for Business, two new wireless keyboards designed to run on light. Using the company’s proprietary Logi LightCharge technology, the keyboards draw power from sunlight or artificial light, removing the need for charging cables or battery replacements.
The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 provides a full-size layout with a number pad, laptop-style scissor-switch keys, and a slim form factor aimed at modern workspaces. Once fully charged, the keyboard can continue operating for up to four months in complete darkness, supporting uninterrupted productivity.
Designed for Everyday Use
The new model supports multi-device and multi-OS compatibility, allowing users to switch between three devices, such as a desktop, laptop, or tablet, with Easy-Switch keys. It works across Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS and is customizable through the Logi Options+ app, which enables users to program F-keys, Action Keys, and an AI Launch Key for quick access to tools and applications.
Art O’Gnimh, General Manager of Core Products at Logitech, highlighted that the product is designed to eliminate the common issue of recharging. He noted that the keyboard “stays powered by light—any light—clearing your desk of cables and eliminating the need to physically charge it.”
The graphite version of the Signature Slim Solar+ K980 includes 70% certified post-consumer recycled plastic. It also features a rechargeable battery designed to last up to 10 years, reducing replacement needs and supporting long-term use. Logitech’s Design for Sustainability initiative continues to guide product development, balancing performance with environmental responsibility.
The Signature Slim Solar+ K980 for Business includes features tailored for IT management and enterprise environments. It comes with the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver for secure and reliable wireless connectivity, even in high-density workspaces.
Through Logitech Sync, IT teams can monitor devices centrally, tracking product and firmware status. The keyboard supports customization of up to 23 shortcut keys, including the AI Launch Key, to align with workplace productivity needs. With global availability and support, the business version is intended for deployment at scale.
