CHERRY Showcases New Switch Lineup at Computex 2025, Including Contactless and MX2A-Based Designs
At Computex 2025, CHERRY unveiled four new keyboard switches aimed at both professional and enthusiast markets. The lineup includes the all-new CHERRY IK inductive analog switch series and three additions to the company’s long-standing MX mechanical switch platform: MX Honey, MX Blossom, and MX Falcon. These announcements mark CHERRY’s continued focus on refining switch technology and expanding options for keyboard manufacturers and consumers.
Leading the introductions is the CHERRY IK switch, the company’s first inductive analog switch. Instead of relying on physical contact for actuation, the IK switch uses electromagnetic induction to detect key presses. This design eliminates mechanical wear and improves durability. According to CHERRY, the IK switch consumes 50 percent less power than typical magnetic switches and up to 95 percent less than Hall effect alternatives. This efficiency makes the IK series a viable option for low-power and high-durability applications. The CHERRY IK switch is scheduled for release in Fall 2025.
Alongside the IK switch, CHERRY introduced three new mechanical switches under the MX brand, each based on the latest MX2A platform. First among them is the MX Honey, CHERRY’s first silent tactile switch. It is designed to provide tactile feedback while significantly reducing noise, achieved through an improved spring design and factory-applied lubrication. The MX Honey is rated for over 100 million actuations and will begin shipping in June 2025. CHERRY also plans to offer 36-piece switch kits for consumers shortly after the initial release.
Next is the MX Blossom, which is now the lightest linear switch in CHERRY’s portfolio. With an actuation force of just 35 centinewtons (cN), the switch is aimed at users who prefer a smooth and effortless keypress. The MX Blossom maintains consistent performance while reducing finger fatigue during extended use. Like the MX Honey, it will be available starting June 2025, with consumer kits to follow.
Rounding out the new lineup is the MX Falcon, a heavy tactile switch developed in response to feedback from the keyboard enthusiast community. The switch features a long-pole stem that delivers a strong tactile bump and a distinct bottom-out feel. It also produces a more pronounced sound profile, resembling the feedback of classic typewriters. CHERRY highlights that the MX Falcon retains compatibility with MX-style keycaps and modern mounting standards. The switch will be available in early June 2025, with retail kits planned shortly after.
CHERRY’s Computex 2025 showcase reflects the company’s focus on innovation in both emerging and traditional switch technologies, aiming to meet a broad range of user preferences in performance, sound, and feel.
