TTC and MelGeek Announce Magneto Purple: A New Magnetic Switch with High-Speed Rail-Style Design

TTC, in collaboration with MelGeek, has officially introduced a new magnetic switch variant named the Magneto Purple, further expanding the Magneto series with a fresh mechanical design and improved actuation precision. This switch will first debut in the MelGeek MADE series, aimed at offering enthusiasts an upgraded experience in magnetic mechanical keyboard switches.

The Magneto Purple Switch follows the family design characteristics of the existing Magneto lineup, featuring a large square-mouth switch core column. However, this version implements a notable structural shift: it replaces the conventional internal guide rail with a top cover long guide rail, similar to what is found in TTC’s Tai'a and Helios switches. This "high-speed rail-style" structure helps guide the stem during key presses more steadily, reducing wobble and improving consistency.

Visually, the Magneto Purple Switch uses a fully transparent housing, allowing the RGB lighting to shine through without obstruction. The stem is a dual-tone purple and orange, standing out from typical monochrome switch stems. TTC has retained its signature mortise and tenon structure, which helps keep components securely in place during use and assembly.

Another unique element is the soft, elastic side walls on the stem, designed to provide a slightly cushioned bottom-out and help reduce the harshness that sometimes comes with linear switch designs. Internally, the switch uses a 21mm long spring with a 35 gf initial actuation force, offering a smooth and responsive key feel. Total key travel is 3.4mm, which is slightly shorter than traditional mechanical switches but within the range expected for magnetic switches.

The Magneto Purple features improved magnetic sensing precision thanks to a refined manufacturing process. TTC has narrowed the initial and bottom-out magnetic flux tolerances, resulting in more consistent and accurate actuation detection. This enhancement boosts overall responsiveness and reliability, making the switch better suited for both fast-paced gaming and precise typing. In magnetic switches, where actuation depends on changes in magnetic field strength rather than mechanical contact, such improvements are critical for delivering a smoother and more predictable user experience.

The Magneto Purple will debut as part of the MelGeek MADE series, which is a new lineup of products featuring TTC's latest innovations in switch technology. This move also reflects a growing interest in magnetic switches, which are gaining traction among mechanical keyboard enthusiasts for their durability and adjustable actuation features.

As TTC continues to refine its magnetic switch platform, the partnership with MelGeek appears to be a strategic effort to bring more advanced and user-centric products to the market. The Magneto Purple is positioned as a flagship product and may signal further developments in the magnetic switch space in the near future.
