Rapoo’s Aesco Launches A83 Air Low-Profile Mechanical Keyboard With 75% Layout
Rapoo’s sub-brand Aesco has announced the A83 Air, a new low-profile mechanical keyboard designed for users who prefer compact layouts and wireless flexibility. The model marks Aesco’s first entry into the multi-mode low-profile mechanical keyboard segment and targets both productivity and gaming setups.
The A83 Air uses a 75% layout, a format that retains the function row and navigation cluster while reducing the overall footprint compared with full-size keyboards. This layout has become popular among users who want a balance between space efficiency and access to essential keys. Aesco pairs the layout with a chassis that features rounded corners and a clean profile, giving the keyboard a modern appearance suited for desk setups that prioritize minimalism.

Backlit keycaps are included, allowing the keyboard to remain visible in low-light environments. While the company has not detailed lighting customization features yet, the integrated illumination is intended to improve usability during nighttime work or gaming sessions.
Powering the keyboard is a 3800mAh battery, which Aesco claims can deliver up to 630 hours of battery life depending on usage conditions and lighting settings. The keyboard supports multi-mode connectivity, allowing it to connect to multiple devices through different wireless and wired options. This approach makes it suitable for users who switch between PCs, laptops, tablets, or other compatible devices throughout the day.

For the switch design, Aesco collaborated with Kailh to develop custom low-profile “Mint Switches.” These switches use a full POM construction, a material commonly used in mechanical switches due to its smooth movement and durability. The switches feature a total travel distance of 2.8±0.25 mm and an actuation point of 1.2±0.3 mm, providing shorter travel than standard mechanical switches. The actuation force is rated at 38±8 gf, positioning the switch in the light-to-medium range for typing and gaming.
Durability is rated at 50 million keystrokes, aligning with typical mechanical switch lifespan expectations. The keyboard also includes PBT keycaps produced using a double-shot injection molding process, which helps prevent fading legends and improves long-term resistance to wear.

With the A83 Air, Aesco expands its keyboard lineup with a compact model that focuses on portability, battery life, and low-profile typing characteristics. Pricing and regional availability have not yet been officially confirmed.
