Wooting Announces 60HE v2 Mechanical Keyboard with Improved Build and Performance
Wooting has officially announced the Wooting 60HE v2, the successor to its well-received 60HE keyboard, on May 16. The new model brings several design and performance upgrades while retaining the compact 60% layout that made the original popular among gamers and keyboard enthusiasts. According to Wooting, the 60HE v2 is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Wooting 60HE v2 features a full aluminum alloy case, replacing the plastic chassis of its predecessor. This change is aimed at improving durability and giving the keyboard a more premium feel. The keyboard also integrates a multi-layer sound absorption structure to minimize unwanted noise and enhance typing acoustics. For added customization, Wooting has included support for an optional side strap and reworked the spacebar area to allow for both integrated and split layouts, offering more flexibility for different user preferences.
Under the hood, the 60HE v2 is equipped with the Lekker Tikken linear magnetic switches. These switches use Wooting’s proprietary Hall effect technology, offering analog input and rapid response times. The new switches have tighter manufacturing tolerances compared to the previous version, with a total travel distance of 4.0 mm. The actuation force starts at 40 centinewtons (cN) and peaks at 60 cN. Wooting claims these switches are rated for 100 million actuations. The switches are also described as having a distinct tapping sound, which the company likens to the sound of marble, suggesting a crisp and solid auditory feedback.
The 60HE v2 is also equipped with support for a true 8,000 Hz polling rate, enabled via Wooting’s Tachyon mode. This feature is designed to minimize latency by processing inputs at a much higher frequency than standard keyboards. However, Tachyon mode disables RGB lighting to prioritize performance, which is often preferred by competitive gamers who value responsiveness over aesthetics.
Wooting has not yet announced the final pricing for the 60HE v2, but more details are expected closer to its Q4 launch. Given the success of the original 60HE and the improvements introduced in the second version, the 60HE v2 will likely be positioned as a high-end option in the compact mechanical keyboard market.
As the company continues to refine its magnetic switch technology, the 60HE v2 marks another step in Wooting’s goal of delivering responsive and customizable keyboards tailored to both competitive and casual users.
