Keychron Launches K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition With Magnetic Switches and Walnut Body
Keychron has expanded its magnetic-switch keyboard lineup with the introduction of the K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition, a refreshed take on the original K2 HE series that made its debut at CES 2025. This version retains the familiar 75% layout and core features of the HE series but brings a notable shift in design by adopting a walnut-wood chassis. Keychron has paired this wooden body with a CNC-machined aluminium side panel, creating a blend of natural materials and structural reinforcement.

The keyboard continues to use Gateron double-rail magnetic switches, which form the foundation of the K2 HE series. These switches enable adjustable actuation, rapid trigger capabilities, and 360-degree input control. All these functions can be tuned through Keychron’s web configurator, allowing users to set actuation points, modify lighting effects, and create multi-action key mappings. The company has clarified that this model supports only the double-rail magnetic switch type, without compatibility for other Gateron magnetic variants.
Connectivity remains one of the board’s major highlights. The K2 HE All-Wood Edition supports 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB-C wired use. When connected through 2.4 GHz or wired mode, the keyboard reaches a 1000 Hz polling rate, while Bluetooth operates at 125 Hz. This gives users flexibility in switching between latency-sensitive tasks and general wireless use across multiple devices. The board also features NKRO support, ensuring accurate input registration even during fast typing or gaming.

Keychron ships the All-Wood Edition fully assembled. It includes the PCB, the wooden case, the aluminium plate, and the company’s OSA-profile double-shot PBT keycaps, designed to work with both macOS and Windows systems. The preinstalled Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula switches come tuned for consistent performance out of the box. The keyboard also features north-facing RGB lighting and screw-in PCB stabilizers, both common requests among mechanical keyboard enthusiasts looking for better keycap compatibility and reduced rattle on larger keys.
The shift to a walnut chassis places this model at a higher price point than previous versions. Keychron lists the All-Wood Special Edition at $199.99, which makes it $60 more than the earlier Special Edition and $70 more than the regular K2 HE. The price increase reflects the added materials and machining involved in producing a wooden frame while keeping the internal hardware aligned with the existing K2 HE platform.

With the release of the K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition, Keychron continues expanding its range of magnetic-switch keyboards. This model introduces a distinct look while keeping the performance features that defined the original HE series, giving users another option in the growing market for wireless, customizable mechanical keyboards.
